Weekend Fun

Our weekend has been jam packed, so I haven't had a chance to update, but I have lots of photos. On Friday night, David and I went to a John Williams concert at the Opera House. It was a lot of fun because all the music was recognizable. Our emcee was great and really funny. The second half of the concert was all Star Wars songs, which led to some good photos!

They had some robots for picture taking before the concert started. During intermission R2D2 was moving around the lobby.

Our seats were very unique. We sat in the second row BEHIND the players, so it allowed us to see the rest of the auditorium and the conducter's facial expressions.

We were directly behind the percussion section that has multiple different instruments. So we were able to watch them switch between different percussion instruments throughout the various songs. My favorite was the overexpressive cymbals guy.

At the top of the concert hall, there are these donuts that hang from the ceiling to help with the sound.

During intermission, Darth Vadar and his Storm Troopers were running around so that we could take photos with them.

On Saturday, Audrey came into town and we instantly dragged her to the opening day of Randwick Racetrack. We went up to the grandstand and even with the crappy weather, there were lots of dressed up people walking around the grass.

Their racetrack was much fancier than Suffolk Downs. They even had a stage for bands to come up and play between the races. The Australian idol winner even played!

At one point, we checked out the horses as they were getting ready to race.

We watched our last race from the railing and took a picture of the grandstand. By this point, there were many intoxicated people and some were even being escorted out of the race track.

After the horse races, we went straight to Matt and Christine Owings apartment to have Thanksgiving. We had so much food that we ended up with lots of leftovers. Unfortunately, my camera was running out of batteries, so I don't have any photos of the night. Thank you Matt, Christine and Alex for organizing!

On Sunday, David and I rented bicycles and we tried going up to some of the Northern beaches. After biking up and down many hills, we ended up at Dee Why Beach. The beach was a bit longer than Manly Beach and much calmer.

Here I am on the beach enjoying the sun!

On our way back, we stopped at the other beaches on the coast. This was how dorky I looked, but the Curl Curl beach looked pretty good.

David is sporting the helmet look in front of Curl Curl.

After our bike ride, we headed back to Manly and met up with some of the new American transfers on the beach. It was a perfect biking day as well as a beach day and a great way to end the weekend!

You look tan! And R2D2 looks pale!
