Warringah Mall

David and I decided to go on a little adventure yesterday. In our newspapers, we had been reading about these stores on Pittwater Road and Warringah Mall. So, our brilliant idea was to walk to down Pittwater to Warringah Mall, shop as we walked and in the mall before heading back to our apartment on the bus.

Unfortunately, the shops ended quite quickly on Pittwater Road and we were walking mostly in residential areas before we passed a big field with people playing cricket. We also passed 2 different golf courses. Amazingly, one of them has a bus stop right next to it. We'll definitely be checking it out soon, but this might be one of the rare things that are actually cheaper to do than in the US.

When we got into Warringah Mall, it was very different from any US mall that I've ever been to. It was a combination of an indoor and outdoor mall and was very confusing to walk around in. It had multiple department stores and multiple grocery stores, but there were a couple of weird parts. One was that one of the grocery stores had spilled out into the middle of the mall and had set up kiosks/bins that were selling fruit and vegetables. It looked very confusing on how to pay for these fruit and vegetables. The other strange thing is that besides the grocery stores they also have specialized markets within the mall. They have a stand dedicated to selling raw/cooked chicken, a butcher, a deli, etc. It was just bizarre to see these all in a mall.

After being confused in the mall for about an hour or two, David and I decided to hit up the grocery store that doesn't exist in our part of the town. We took a long bus ride back before finally getting home.

Australia's interesting fact of the day: Rove McManus. Rove McManus is kind of like the Regis in the US, but to the next level. Rove has a couple of his own shows and hosts other types of shows like Are you smarter than a 5th grader and the Aria Awards. From what David and I can tell, he basically hosts anything worth hosting. He's also done some radio work and is basically one of the biggest hosts in Australia.
