Jetlagged so let's talk about the food...

Currently it's 5am and I'm wide awake. I've been dozing on and off again since around 3am and finally gave up on the idea of sleep. It apears that David has also given up even though he has to go to work in a couple of hours. I plan on posting pics about yesterday's trip into downtown Sydney when I load u pictures, but first I wanted to post some pictures about the food we've been eating!

Day 1: Lunch - We ended up stopping at this cafe that is on the corner of our street and the street that is parallel to the beach. They had all sorts of wraps, pastries and other foods. We got some vegetable risotto and a chicken and mushroom filo wrap. Both were delicious. The risotto had pesto mixed with it and I learned that capsicum = peppers.

Day 1: Dinner - After dragging David out of the apartment because I wanted to eat in order to go to bed asap, we ended up eating at a cafe that is connected with a little fresh fish market. So, it was a seafood lover's paradise or if you hate seafood, it would be your worst nightmare. There was only 1 entree that was not seafood. We ended up with Seafood Mornay with scallops, salmon and shrimp and some Salt and Pepper Squid. This Mornay dish was basically the seafood submerged in cheesy mashed potatoes and baked in a ramekin. It was very rich and delicious. It came with chips (which are french fries) and a small mixed green salad. The weirdest part was that the salad came out plain. No dressing at all. There was some oil and vinegar on the table, but that's never as good as real dressing. The salt and pepper squid had come out on the same small green salad, but did have some kind of creamy dressing on the salad part. The sauce for the squid was this sweet chili sauch. It was quite tasty. I also had this amazing hot chocolate.

Day 2: Breakfast - We stopped at this bakery for a HUGE chocolate croissant and a cheese/ham pastry. Both were quite tasty. The funniest part for the bakery is the fact that baguettes are called French Sticks.

Day 2: Lunch - We had gone into downtown Sydney to eat lunch, but didn't realize that almost everything would be closed!! We finally ended up eating at a food court that was at the base of the Sydney tower. After wandering around with so many choices, we ended up at a sushi joint where rolls were only $2 (AUD). They weren't as long as your typical roll in the States, but it was probably thicker with rice. It was a great deal!

Day 2: Dinner - After meeting up with David's coworkers, we decided to eat at an Italian place that was on the pier of the wharf. We didn't want to chance walking around and find no place open. I ended up with a fried rice ball that was filled with a bolognese sauce and sausage, boiled egg whites, and ground beef. It was delicious. David had some pasta with sausage that was also pretty good.

Overall, food has been excellent. There are all kinds of foods, but I've been dying to try the Thai and fish and chips since that's pretty popular. Hopefully I'll have some soon.

I'll be putting up some more pictures later today so stay tuned!
