Tasmania - Day 2 - Freycinet National Park

After an early morning, we made our way up to Freycinet National Park. The park is about 3 hour drive from Hobart on the right side of Tasmania. Along the way, we saw some amazing views of water/moutains/farms. Everytime Nicole saw something great, she'd say "Everyone but Dave look to the right." As the driver, David didn't get to enjoy all the views as much as the rest of us. He had to concentrate on avoiding the road kill that was along the road everywhere. There were wallabies and kangaroos everywhere. =(

When we got to the National Park, I had to repack my bag in order to fit all the stuff we wanted to carry on a hike. Of course, this process took a bit longer than expected and ended up being photographed.

We ended up hiking to the Wineglass Bay lookout. We found this mushroom rock on the way up. Since Nicole was bounding up the mountain with endless energy, she was able to easily whip out her camera at times like this.

When we finally reached the lookout, you were able to see this amazing view.

The other exciting part of the lookout was the wild wallaby. Unfortunately, there were some kids around who weren't taught what to do with wildlife. Even though she was constantly scolded at, one little girl thought that the wallaby wanted sand thrown in its face. I wanted to throw some sand at her to see if she liked it, but I don't think her mother would have been too happy with me. Another older girl was fascinated with feeding the wallaby with grapes, nuts, chips, anything left behind from other hikers.

At one point, Dave and I got close enough to touch the wallaby. You can't tell from this photo, but I'm actually barely touching it. You don't know what kind of diseases this wild animal has!!

At one point, I scrambled up this big rock to get a fun picture with Nicole. Wineglass Beach, which is in these pictures, was our next destination.

The view from Wineglass Beach.

Despite the lack of the sun, we tried to play in the water for a bit, but it was not only cold, but the waves were all shore breaking. Later, we kind of saw a man who tried to body surf who ended up breaking his hand from landing on it. Look at the difference in color between me and Sarah!

As I was taking a nap, Sarah and Dave were checking out the water. We eventually saw some dolphins swimming in the bay. Some of them even jumped all the way out and flipped!

After a grueling hike back to the car, we were excited to be done with the physical activity for the day!

Though we were exhausted, Nicole convinced us to go to the blowhole in Bicheno. This was one of the better blowholes that I've seen in my life and water actually came up through it!

Casey was trying to help time the waves so that Sarah could capture the water as it came through. This is her indication that it's time to take the photo.

After Bicheno, we went to check into our hotel. We relaxed and showered before heading out to a long dinner at The Ugly Duck. Since we were all starving, we ended up ordering lots of food and even dessert! We loved the restaurant so much that we went there for breakfast the next morning.
