We reached Port Arthur, but found out that we had to pay to visit the ruins. We found this lookout so that we could take a look at it. Port Arthur is an old prison that was used a long time ago.
Casey and David with the view of Port Arthur in the back!
After Port Arthur, we visited the Tasmania Devil Conservation Park. We had to pay to go in, but it was definitely worth it! We got to see some baby tasmania devils wander around. Nicole kept saying that tasmania devils were evil and not cute, but I think I'd have to disagree. I think it's because we never saw them being fed. She claims they sound evil and can act like a rabid animal.
Almost all tasmania devils have this cute little white stripe across their chest.
We thought we were done seeing tasmania devils, but Casey and David found some more in another pen.
They also had some cages with cockatoos and parrots. One of them came over to say hi to Casey.
Sarah really enjoyed the look of the kookaburra. They are supposed to have a sound like a crazy laugh.
Afterwards, we were able to go into a habitat of kangaroos and wallabies. We could get as close to them as possible. I tried to creep up to them, but they knew I was coming.
David and Sarah were able to get much closer than me without them being worried.
This kangaroo was Sarah's favorite in the group.
The most interesting was that there were some joeys in the group that were still nursing from their mothers!
Casey and David tried to approach this kangaroo, but he didn't even seem to look at them!
Finally, there was a cage that had these birds. They were just sleeping so peacefully and leaning against each other. They were meant to blend in with the logs as well.
We left the park in time to catch our flight out of Hobart and with that our trip in Tasmania was over.
But don't worry! Sarah was still here for the rest of the week, and we still have lots of photos to share. =)
